Pre-Writing activity for Children of The River

1. I would not stay here because I wouldn't be able to keep conected to the world and know what was going on. I wouldn't go far, because just in case everything would be okay after the attack and we got everything back and we didn't have to worry about anything else for a while so then if I went far then it would be expensive to come back and I love Maine and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else besides here but if I had to leave I would. I would probly drive or have someone drive me or a plane, depends on where I go. I would do the same thing I am doing here I would go to school and if I was older I would get a job and try to live a regular life.

 2. I would try to stay calm and not freak out as much as everyone else. I would also try to get off the plane so I can stay with my friends or family and I wouldn't want to leave my parents behind because I am only 14 years old and it would be scary to live on my own. I would want to be with my Aunt because she is an adult, but at the same time I would want a friend with me. I wouldn't want to leave anyone behind but my parents would have to stay back, even if I didn't want them too. I would stay behind with my friends because they are my friends and they are important to me. If they couldn't go then I wouldn't go. I really don't want to leave anyone behind, but If I had to choose I wouldn't really know. It would take me a while to decide on who I would want to stay back because i love all my friends and family. If there was somewhere I didn't want to go to I would just deal with it, as long as I am alive. Also if I end going some where they don't speak English I would be really scared because then I can't talk to people for help or get another plane some where else.

3. My life would change drastically because their life there is so different then the U.S. Everything in my life would have changed. The food would be a lot different. It would taste different because of where it is from and how they make it. The water will taste different too because it won't be from Sebago Lake anymore. My clothing would be less nicer and not as well as my cloths that I had before. Education wouldn't teach me as much as I could learn in the U.S. Also my religion would change because they have a different religion then I do. In the U.S you can choose what religion you have and how you treat it. In China there might be a ritual or something for their religion. There would be family problems for me because my family is my everything. If they are not there It would be hard for me to adjust to everything by myself. I would have to get a job because if I was living on my own I wouldn't have any money. The government would be a lot different because the U.S has a well organized government and China has a different and not as well as the U.S. Lastly, my daily routines would mostly work all day and come home and eat and sleep pretty much because I would have no friends and family so I would be all by my self.

Themes

American culture is a lot different than across the world. We have very good electricity in most places and have a good government. I want to know that why is the economy getting so bad. There as been a lot of genocides in the past 100 years. One would be World War I and World War II. Also the Holocaust many of Jewish or different kind of people were killed.

research

I think ,when i hear research, about how hard it is going to but at the same time how fun it will be to research and learn about interesting stuff.  There are a few steps for researching. You have to pick a topic and look it up. You try to find as much information as you can and what ever the ending project is, then you put it all together. There is a project in the past I did and i was researching a person and I did all the steps that I said before. The negitive thing about doing a research project before is if you have done a lot of things that interest you there wont be as many things to chose from. The positive thing about doing a research project is knowing how to do it and be experienced and know what you are doing.

Thesis (License0

If I had my license then I can drive myself around and not ask for rides. Also I can bring my sister to her sports and friends houses. There is also another good thing I can drive myself to sports and to early practices that you guys don't have to being me too anymore. If you guys want me out of the house you guys don't have to bring me to a friends house or the mall or places I want to go, I can bring my self. Lastly, I am getting older and I'm more responsible than I was a few years ago, and I think i deserve my license.

New Model

The clip that we watched was very interesting.  All the kids that started drinking at the like age 3 or 4. I didn't even no what drinking was at that age. There was one girl where her dad put alcohol in her her sippie cup. A lot of these kids problems are that their parents left them when they were young and didn't care about them.

"Your therapist told you only about your physical healing.  That's the easy part.  Healing up there (emotional) is much harder to do." Rosie

The quote is saying that  he is healing so he can do active things but in his heart it is a lot harder to do and heal in the heart then it is to heal on the outside. Healing and changing is hard in different ways for everyone. Healing physically is easier then healing mentally. Also some people just can't change and some people can very easily.

Totems

The animal that represent my life is a Sea Lion or a Seal. The sea lion because they don't just care about money they care about there friends and family, The are also skill full and smart. I would also pick a seal because they have a lot of love and creativity. Both of these are good animals and they both represent my life pretty well.
